Combining drawing and automatic writing, I explore the loss and reclaiming of identity. Rooted in personal experience, my work links into feminist critical theory and socially engaged art and takes visual inspiration from nature and human form.

Observing, imagining, experimenting and sketching is at the heart of my practice and are the starting point for all my works. There is an ongoing dialogue between ideas and mediums that can only be reconciled through trial and error.

I received formative art education in Riga Janis Rozentals Art College and am now completing Masters in Fine Art at Cambridge School of Art. I also hold a PhD and have published in interdisciplinary critical theory.

Making charcoal

Materials I use provide opportunity for experimentation, mindfulness, and connecting with nature as I sustainably forage and make charcoal and trial and manipulate graphite. Messy, light, soluble, erasable, these materials reflect impermanence and change, pertaining to the subjects of my work.
